The River Of Gold

sunset4

  Close your eyes and imagine
A bright summer’s day
You meet with your friends
In a field where you play
You’re digging for treasure
And to your surprise
A river of gold runs
Before your own eyes
You meet with the owner
Who seems really nice
She’ll sell you the field
At a reasonable price
But where in the world
Will you find all that money
You’ll just have to sell all your books
And your bunny
Your C.D.’s and T.V.’s and P.C.’s and games
Your jeans and your tee-shirts and designer names
Your Gameboy, Nintendo, your camera and bike
Your D.V.D., keyboard and new Sony mic
Your hooters and scooters and shooters and booters
Your rackets and radio, rollers and tooters
Your magazines, autographs, trainers and toys
And all of those other things that make a noise
You realise that all of this junk must be sold
In order to buy up the river of gold !
‘Where your treasure is, there lies your heart.’

Based on the parable of the hidden treasure:
Matthew 13:44, The Bible
